Heartbreaker

Sigh. Some girl tried to break my babys heart. Josh went to the rec center on Saturday. Every Saturday they have a lock-in for the 3rd thru 8th graders. They have a dj, games, bounce houses, food, full use of the basketball gym and contests. All kinds of stuff. Last year Josh went a couple of times but didn't like it much because of kids that were being mean. This year a lot of his friends go, so he has more people to hang out with.

Lately he goes every other week. His girlfriend(I use the term loosely)Sierra goes every weekend. When I went to pick him up on Saturday he was sitting against the wall in the gym by himself. On the way home I asked what was wrong. He said he was sitting there because he was bored. I told him he should have just called, the rec center is two minutes away from our house. After further questioning(because I need to know everything, haha) he informed me that he and Sierra broke up. I tried to get details but all I got was "some girl was saying stuff". I tried to let him know that at this age girls can be very silly. I told him when he gets to middle school he would probably meet someone else. That there would be even more girls chasing him down(I mean that literally, they run after him on the playground). I told him to just leave Sierra alone. Not to talk to her, if she wanted to be friends to say no(yes, I am spiteful) and to talk to other girls. As I was putting him and Sam to bed, I could see he was very hurt and teary-eyed. I told him everything would be okay and things would look better in the morning.

Anybody know someone who can break a 5th graders kneecaps?! Just kidding!!!

Next morning he got up and said things do look better. He went to a friends house and played all day. He was a little hesitant about going to school but I told him again, everything would be okay. I'm sure by Monday afterschool he and Sierra will be back together again.

So I guess it begins. I don't like this part of life. Girls are nothing but trouble. Yes, I include myself. I tell Larry he must have been a really mean person in another life to end up with me. He agrees...sometimes.

The only thing I can do now, is pray for my boys. Pray they end up with someone who loves them as much as their momma does. Okay, that's a little creepy. I'll pray they end up with someone who will help them be the best person they can be.
Update: Love is in the air again. She wrote him a letter apologizing and wants to be together forever. Apparently he was hanging out with his friends and she felt ignored. Arrghh, females!

The one that didn't get away..

This is why we buy our fish at Long John Silvers. The fisherman in training program isn't going to well yet. These fish aren't big enough for Kiki. Josh caught this fish at Mineral Wells a few weeks ago. Larry took Sam fishing today. Guess who caught the only fish. haha They have fun fishing and like to laugh at Mom because she won't touch the fish. Keep up the good work boys.

Belated card

Here's my b-day card for Tia Yolanda. Yes, I do know her birthday was on Monday. I mostly copied this card. That's basic grey paper in the background. I used one of my new Bella stamps(the girl). That's green galore, basic black and whisper white cardstock. The colors don't look as bright on here and the picture is a little fuzzy on one end. That's my doodling (the lines). I like the new trend of doodling. It's easy because you don't have to have straight lines(which I can't do). That's a gem brad on the sentiment. Doesn't really look like it but it is.

Hope Tia likes her card.

Possum Kingdom

Our favorite and so far only place we camp. Larry took me here for the first time in the fall of 1996. Back then I was such a city girl, I use to take my makeup, perfume, hairdryer and uncomfortable shoes. I remember jumping on the picnic table with Josh(he was a baby) because a racoon walked up to the campsite. That night the racoons got into Joshs playpen. I was horrified of the bugs and didnt like going to the bathrooms by myself at night. I was also pretty scared of the lake. Something about being in the middle of a large body of water. Yes, even in a boat. I tried not to think of the things lurking in the water that could possibly "attack me". I've seen lots of deer, cardinals, racoons, a tarantula(I got a couple of gray hairs out of that one), we also saw a fox once. We saw a jackrabbit awhile back, turtles, an armadillo. And that's not counting the insects.
I have come to appreciate nature a little more now. We love this place. It's a wide open place, its calm and very beautiful. We camp at the same spot every time. We've gotten to writing our names and date under the rooftop of the picnic area. There's quite a bit of dates on there now.
This last time we camped I didn't take any makeup and had my hair in a ponytail the whole time. In fact I forgot the soap and shampoo. We probably all smelled like aged cheese when we got back but we had loads of fun. And that's what counts.
Our favorite things to do there are walking along the shoreline, a little fishing(the kids, actually me don't sit still very long) hiking, relaxing, the guys play frisbee. Josh is learning to steer the boat and Sam loves climbing the big rock at our camp site.
In case Larry sees this, I will admit to not being a total nature lover. A good example would be this past Saturday as we were walking along the shoreline. We found this big, flat, round rock that we thought would go nicely in the turtle tank. As Larry picked up the rock on one end, this mouse ran out. The way Larry describes it, the mouse and I looked at each other, screamed and ran in opposite directions. I almost ran the kids over, trying to get out of there.
I'm starting to think Mother Nature is not female!!!

Birthday Boy

Dear Lord,
May my son grow to be confident, may he be a healthy, independent adult, caring for himself and reaching out to others. May he have a long, successful life and grow from failures and errors I have allowed him to make. May he have a loving, helpful mate and a satisfying career. Give me peace and contentment and when time marches on, help me let him go.

Happy Birthday Danny.
Mom Loves You.

Bad boys for life...

The meanest men in my life. HaHa. The kids and I went to visit Noel at school one weekend. He took us to the mall in Denton, where we walked into a sports store. Boy, all the testosterone started flowing then. The kids played with the weights, footballs anything I would let them play with as long the manager didn't throw us out. Josh is trying to look hard and Sam looks like he's not sure what he's supposed to be doing. My boys love their cousin. They think he's tough and very very fun. I love you, Noel.

Hail Mary

Wicked weather blew threw thru here today. We hardly got any rain. Some wind and lots of hail for a few minutes. These are two of the largest of hails. The rest were quarter size and smaller. My Expedition didnt make out so well. I got about 10 dinks on the hood. Sam had a very concerned look when the city sirens went off. Frisky ran around the house like the fraidy cat he is when the hail was hitting the roof. It could have been worse, so we are very thankful.

Mineral Wells

I love this picture. That's Larry fishing off the pier at Lake Mineral Wells. It was a beautiful spring day. We went hiking and fishing. After all my griping about how long and tiring the hike was and the fear of the kids falling in the water, I would do it all over again. Thanks Hon.

Be afraid...be very afraid.

Congratulations, you now get to look into my head. Don't look for much.
Really I'm just trying this blog thing out.
